"We were very excited to make this a reality. We are working with a team from SAE to build it," said SAE CEO Kashi Thahang.

An original concept of the project was developed with help of the world's best engineers.


Catherine Khaass, a senior associate at China Academy of Engineering and Technology in Jiahua, says, "SAE is building an aircraft carrier from scratch with the expertise of Singapore's best engineers.

"These talented students will provide a new challenge for them working within the government's existing aircraft development processes. It is very attractive to see Singapore's high performance aircraft procurement process improving."

He says that the project is one that has many great elements, its being considered by many as a new model of aircraft, and that it will lead to higher level of technological innovation and more innovation over time.

At the end of 2012 China's military had to develop new jets in order to bring these aircraft production to the same level as the commercial market.

That was a challenge due to the difficulty in bringing new aircraft to market.

However, SAE began to bring more aircraft after the first few years, because of its commitment to provide high value products. Singapore manufactures over 90 per cent of its aircraft.

But as the production was not successful, SAE was required to invest more in new aircraft than the original concept
